I covered my eyes with a cloth so black,
And stepped outside, with no thought to track.
I wondered aloud, “Why is it still night?
Where is the sun? Where’s the day’s bright?”
The world seemed strange, so quiet, yet loud,
I heard whispers, like ghosts in a crowd.
Frightened and lost, I walked slowly,
The city felt dark, gloomy and lowly.
Then something hit me, and I fell down,
A man came close, with a gentle frown.
He helped me up, and asked with care,
“Why cover your eyes when light is there.”
I called him a fool, and shook my head,
“It’s night, my friend, the sun has fled!”
He pleaded softly, “Remove that veil,”
But I refused, with a stubborn tale.
He walked away, with a laugh so light,
And I laughed back, sure I was right.
But as I walked, I tripped once more,
And the cloth tore on a thorny shore.
I blinked my eyes, and saw the light,
The darkness gone and day was bright.
I realized then, with a sinking heart,
I had been blindfolded from the start.
We all have veil that hide the truth,
From innocent child to wandering youth.
But one day soon, we are destined to fall,
And the veil will tear, for one and all.
The light will shine, the truth will show,
The path is clear, and we’ll finally know!
So question the dark, and seek the light,
For blindness fades, when we see what’s right.
