Salman Khan

Salman Khan, a popular actor of Indian cinema, was born on 27 December 1965 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. His father is famous screenwriter Salim Khan and his mother is Salim Khan’s first wife Sushila Charak (Salma Khan). Salman has two brothers Arbaaz and Sohail, and two sisters Alvira and Arpita.
Salman started his studies from St. Stanislaus High School in Mumbai and later took admission in St. Xavier’s College but he could not complete his studies. In 1988 itself, Salman Khan started his career with the film ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’ but he got more success in the 1989 film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. This film made Salman a star overnight, due to which his popularity increased a lot among the youth. Due to this film, he got the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actor.After this, Salman did not look back and gave many hit films, prominent among them are ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun’ in 1994, ‘Karan Arjun’ in 1995, ‘Biwi No. 1’ and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ in 1999, ‘Tere Naam’ in 2003 and ‘Wanted’ released in 2009. The film Wanted restored his film career.
Salman Khan has also been constantly linked to controversies. In 2002, he was arrested in a hit and run case. He was accused of crushing a person while driving under the influence of alcohol. In 2015, he was convicted in this case, but was later acquitted. He also went to jail in the 1998 black buck hunting case.
He founded a non-profit organization called ‘Being Human’ in 2007, which helps underprivileged communities through education and health services. Salman Khan continues to support this organization.
Salman Khan is not stopping now and his recent films show his maturity in acting. His recent successful films are: ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (2015), ‘Sultan’ (2016), and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017)
Mirza Ghalib

Mirza Ghalib’s full name was Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan. He is one of the most revered and influential poets of the Indian subcontinent. He was born on 27 December 1797 in Agra. His poetry reflected the social and political situation of the time, as well as the depth of emotions in a vivid form.
Ghalib was born in a prestigious family, but he became an orphan at a very young age. His uncle raised him. Ghalib’s early education was in Arabic, Persian and Urdu. He also studied Persian literature. Knowledge of Persian further enriched his poetry.
Mirza Ghalib was married to Umrao Begum at the age of 13. His life was always full of personal and financial problems. He lived with his wife in Delhi. They had children but none of them survived for long. The pain and suffering of Ghalib’s life made his poetry even more impressive.
Ghalib wrote poetry in both Urdu and Persian languages. The themes of his ghazals and poetry included love, pain, the futility of life, and his relationship with God. His works were not only famous at that time, but are still alive in the hearts of people. Ghalib’s style, vocabulary, and emotional depth have given him a special place in poetry. The lyrics of one of his famous poems are:-
हज़ारों ख़्वाहिशें ऐसी कि हर ख़्वाहिश पे दम निकले,
बहुत निकले मेरे अरमान लेकिन फिर भी कम निकले।
Ghalib’s life was also surrounded by controversies. It is said that he was fond of alcohol and gambling. His financial condition was also always in dire straits. But despite all this, his poetry gave him the status of an immortal poet.
Mirza Ghalib died on 15 February 1869. His poetry gave him such a status that even today people hum his compositions. Ghalib’s mansion in Delhi has been converted into a museum, where various things related to his life are kept. No matter how much he is criticized, Ghalib’s poetry and his life have given a new direction to Urdu literature and he will always be remembered.
